1) Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

A historical site in itself, Bhangarh Fort was situated in a once flourishing town that became desolate overnight.

This left many wondering about the cause of disappearance of so many people.

You can hear about the bone chilling whispers of the impure souls left behind by so many locals, but 2 lesser known legends also surround the place. 

One legend says that a sadhu, Guru Bala Nath, lived within the fort walls and gave his permission to King Man Singh to construct the fort.

However, he laid a condition that no shadow should befall his house. If that happens, the city will perish.

Descendents of King Man Singh ignored the warning and as a result, curse fell on Bhangarh. 

Second legend states that Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh was a very beautiful woman, who once caught the eye of Tantrik Singhia, a magician well versed in dark arts.

He tried to woo her in various ways and she refused him every single time. Frustrated, he mixed a love potion in her perfume.

But the Princess got to know of it, and poured the bottle of perfume over a huge boulder which slipped and fell on the Tantrik,

crushing him to death. He is said to have sursed Bhangarh in his last breath, turning it to ruins.


2) Dumas Beach, Gujarat

It once served as the Hindu burial grounds for many tormented souls. Located near Surat, it is said that fierce winds blow here, carrying the whispers of warnings.

Many would warn you not to visit the place as there are many who lost their lives while they went for a stroll along its banks. People disappeared mysteriously after they came and were never found again. 

Known for being the most haunted beach in India, Dumas is also famous for its black sands.Legend states that due to excessive burning of corpses in the burial ground, the sands mixed with the ashes of the dead and changed color.

Locals reported strange sounds coming from the beach when there wasn’t a single soul in sight.

It was also suggested that there was an increase in paranormal activities when the moon rose in the sky.

Test the waters yourself if you’re brave (or foolish) enough to do so, but it is recommended not to cross a particular line while walking along its waters.


3) Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune

The fort is a significant historical visit in addition to being haunted. Even if it is the pride of the Maratha Empire, visitors are warned not to visit the place after sunset.

Legend has it that a young 16- year old Prince Narayan Rao was made the Peshwa after the death of his father and one of his brothers in battle.

His elder brother couldn’t bear the sorrow of losing their family and committed suicide. 

The young prince was manipulated by his evil uncle and aunt, where his aunt Anandi Bai sent a letter through his uncle Raghunath Rao to the hunter tribe Gardi’s head who was an enemy of the Prince.

The letter stated to capture the prince, but the aunt skillfully changed a character to make it say that the Prince was to be killed. 

Once night fell, hunters were allowed entry in the palace by his uncle and surrounded Narayan Rao’s chambers.

He ran to his uncle for help but was captured and killed ruthlessly. Screams and wails are still heard at midnight in the fort till now.
